Qur'an 1-5

Qur'an 1-5

Qur'an 1:5 is the fifth verse of Surah Al-Fatiha, which reads as follows:

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

Transliteration: Iyyāka na'budu wa iyyāka nasta'īn.

Translation: You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.

Explanation:

This verse is a declaration of the believer's devotion and reliance on Allah. It emphasizes two key points:

  1. Worship: "You alone we worship" — This phrase signifies the exclusive worship of Allah. It underscores the monotheistic essence of Islam, affirming that no one else deserves worship except Allah.

  2. Seeking Help: "And You alone we ask for help" — In addition to worship, this verse expresses the believer's dependence on Allah for guidance, support, and assistance in every aspect of life. It reminds Muslims that all forms of help, whether in worldly matters or spiritual needs, ultimately come from Allah.

This verse is a powerful expression of submission to Allah’s sovereignty and a reminder of the intimate relationship between the believer and their Creator. It encapsulates both the ibadah (worship) and tawakkul (trust and reliance) that a Muslim should embody.
